Instructor: Sayyidah Shahnaze Safieddine
One of the qualities that differentiates human beings from the animal world is our sense of morality, and the Prophet Muhammad (s) was sent as a guide in bringing that trait to the highest level. Why does attaining moral excellence matter? And how do we achieve it? Do we strive for virtuous qualities, accumulate good actions, or both?
This course offers an introduction to the Islamic moral system and examines the values that offer a code of decency to be applied in everyday life. This first part of the series will cover our relationship with God and virtues for self-development. The class involves lectures, discussions, and activities. Practical tips for self-development will be included in the lessons on the framework of our ethical system.
Attendance, punctuality, and participation are requirements for any effective course. More than one unexcused absence may be grounds for withdrawal. Students are expected to report anticipated absences as early as possible.
To bypass scheduling conflicts and to customize instruction according to level, most Islamic programming is organized by demand only.
